A Switch to Cycling
I've had a few people ask about updates on my ankle lately, so thought it might be time for a new post!
After seeing the specialist (surgeon) in January, I have taken his advice and have stopped running. I don't want to ruin my ankle for later in life, so I've decided to go easy on it for now and pursue my cycling. The cycling is going well, and I'm almost pain-free, so I'm content with the decision.
I haven't ruled out giving running another go, so in a few months or later down the track if I have a specific goal which includes running (likely a triathlon) I will work with my physio to try and establish a program/treatment that can get me running without pain.
Thanks to everyone who has sent me feedback and advice. It's been useful in making these decisions. (And I'm still keen to hear from anyone who has osteoarthritis in their ankle and is still running).
