The Big Momma Sunday Run

Today I completed my longest run to date (the furthest I have ever run might I add) - 24km.  And what made it even more special was that it was in my home town of Hamilton, New Zealand and I had my Mum with me!

After flying into Auckland yesterday afternoon and making my way back to Hamilton, I got out for a 6km run last night (not by choice, but because that's what my schedule told me). That felt a bit sluggish, so wasn't expecting todays run to feel great.

I was pleasantly surprised though, and didn't feel fatigued until around the 21km mark.

It was a little foggy when we headed out at 8am (I haven't experienced fog for a long time so that was a novelty!) but it cleared up and the sun came out about half way through the run.

Catching up with my Mum (who rode alongside me) made the run go pretty quickly. It was good to be back on home soil and sticking to the river paths made for a lovely run.

I ran with my new camera (Canon IXUS 100 IS) in my back pocket and we snapped a few pics on the way:
