Why?

It was the end of November 09, when I decided that I needed a new challenge to work towards. I've embarked in some pretty intense physical events before, but the last fews years have seen me less active. Running a marathon has always been on my list of Things to Do and with my 30th birthday approaching, what better way to celebrate than by being able to claim I had just run a marathon!

In memory of Serge Ruffini

Knowing that this is going to be such a big part of my life this year, I decided that it would be a good opportunity to get my friends and families involved and give back to the community. After having someone from my partners family taken from us earlier this year with a very aggressive cancer, I knew that I wanted to support those fighting cancer. This one's for you Serge.

I like to think that by supporting Cancer Council SA, the funds I raise will make a positive difference to someones life.

UPDATE (July 19, 2010):

On July 4th I ran my 'maiden marathon' (check out my race review). Working towards this goal has been such a rewarding experience for me. I'm hooked, and am already plotting the next big goal

A huge thank you to everyone who supported me during my preparation. Together we raised $2,010 for the SA Cancer Council and can be proud to know that we've made a difference to the life of someone dealing with Cancer.
